The Bobcat Cry
Dec 12, 2008 [Issue #14]
VERSE OF THE MONTH:
And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. — Matthew 1:21
SCRIP PROGRAM:
The scrip program had another solid week earning $187.54. Next Monday will be the LAST CHANCE to place your scrip order before the Christmas break! Gift cards make an easy gift for the person that has everything and also will help you stay within your spending budget. There are also gift cards available for all of the fuel, fast food, and hotels that you will use over the break. There is an order form attached to this week's Friday packet. We are pleased to announce that the Harvest House has joined the scrip program. The Harvest House is a brand new store located behind the Bay House in downtown Munising. They specialize in natural and bulk foods. The Harvest House will be available in $10 increments and will offer a 2% discount. Please turn your order in by 10 a.m. on Monday. If you have any questions, please contact the office.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM:
MBS would like to extend a special invitation to each of you to join us next Wednesday, December 17, for our Christmas program entitled "Christmas at Bethlehem Gulch." Mrs. LaFlamme and the students have been working hard and I know it will be a blessing to all those able to attend. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will last approximately one hour. Following the program, there will be refreshments in the gymnasium. Remember a special "thank you" offering will be taken and distributed to the teachers as a Christmas bonus.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM DRESS CODE:
Mrs. LaFlamme has put together some details regarding the student dress code for the upcoming Christmas program. The program has a western theme and is a little more laid back than in years past. The boys will need to wear a nice pair of blue jeans and the girls will need to wear a nice looking jean skirt. All of the students will then need to wear a western themed shirt and a matching bandana, which will be tied around their neck. The students should wear a pair of dark shoes or cowboy boots. Tennis shoes are not to be worn by any of the students. Parents please make sure your child's clothing abides by the school's dress code. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. LaFlamme.
CHRISTMAS GIFT EXCHANGE:
After much thought over what to do for the upcoming MBS Christmas party, the staff has decided to forgo the student gift exchange again this year. We instead would like to focus on the aspect of giving to those in need. I understand, especially with the present economic situation, that all of us are feeling the pinch, but there are families around the world that cannot even meet their basic needs. This year MBS is teaming up with Compassion International to support a few of the 150,000 children in third world countries that face incredible needs, hardships, and risks everyday. In past years, each student would buy a $5.00 gift to exchange with another student. This year we are asking that instead of buying a $5.00 gift, each student make a $5.00 donation to Compassion International. There will be a display set up in the foyer to better explain the program. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Franklin. Students are still encouraged to give a gift or a thank-you card to their teacher.
PROGRESS REPORTS:
The progress reports for the second quarter were sent home today. The grades indicate the work your child has done through the first half of the quarter. The second quarter will end on January 23, 2009.
CHRISTMAS PARTY:
MBS will be doing something a little different for its Christmas party this year. Next Thursday, December 18, the students will have their normal classes during the morning hours and will then be treated to a pizza party. Each class will then head separate directions for their own party. Each teacher will be giving specific details about their parties sometime next week. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
CHRISTMAS CAROLING:
On Friday, December 19, MBS will be going Christmas caroling at the Tendercare Nursing home, the Manor and Harbor View. After we are done singing, we will head back to the school so the teachers can open up the gifts that the students brought in. All of the students will then be dismissed at 11:30.
MONTHLY PAYMENT:
The fifth monthly payment will be due next Monday, December 15. Please be prompt with your payment to avoid all late fees.
EARLY DISMISSAL:
All of the students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. next Friday, December 19. The half-day will begin the MBS Christmas break. Please make the proper arrangements to have your child picked up.
